Chester E. Ordway, 69, of Holgate died Wednesday evening, May 28 at his home. Born in Holgate Feb. 11, 1922, he was the son of Chester and Coral (Hill) Ordway. On May 2, 1947, he married Dorothy Eitzman, and she survives. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he had been a plumber and pipefitter for 29 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Holgate's St. John Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #340. Also surviving are five sons, Franklin, Theodore and Douglas all of Holgate; Michael of New Bavaria, and Robert of Jackson, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; a step-grandson; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin; and two sisters, Mable Ordway and Esther Babcock. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday in St. John Lutheran Church, Holgate, Rev. Theodore Rellstab officiated. Interment was in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.
