Funeral services for Nellie Marie Newell, 93, formerly of McComb, were held March 7 at Harley Funeral Home, McComb, the Revs. Tom Hoover and Richard Snavely officiating. Burial was in the McComb Union Cemetery. Mrs. Newell died at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born Jan. 19, 1897 in Pleasant Township, Hancock County to John and Lovina (Kelley) Fisher. She married Orla Lee Newell on Nov. 13, 1917, and he died June 2, 1966. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Oletha Bassett in 1976. Surviving are three daughters, Guyneth Crates if Findlay, Mrs. Eugene (Grace) Leader of McComb and Mrs. Richard (Naomi) Snavely of West Palm Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Newell was a homemaker. She was a member of McComb United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of Center Evangelical United Brethren Church of rural McComb.
