Daniel G. McKnight, Sr. , 56, of Napoleon, died June 4 in St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee. Born Aug. 10, 1934 in Toledo, he was the son of Roscoe and Edna (Wholgamuth) McKnight. A retired farmer, he was the former owner and operator of the Napoleon Auto Truck Plaza. Mr. McKnight was a member of Living Word Fellowship Church in rural Stryker and was a Bible study teacher for several years. On Nov. 27, 1953, he married Phyllis Sue Cole and she survives. Also surviving are his sons, Daniel Jr., of Napoleon; daughters, Gwendolyn Schorgen of Malinta; Kay McKnight, of Napoleon, and Shelby Smiddy of Liberty Center; brothers Tom of Orange Park, Fla., Charles and Timothy of Bradenton, Fla., and Robert of Napoleon; sisters, Naoma Rains of Citrus Heights, Calif.; Edna Boulton of Napoleon, and Eleanor Dennis of Archbold, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Glen on March 8 , 1957 and Matthew on April 22, 1981, and brothers, Roscoe, John and Dale. Services were held on June 7 at Living Word Fellowship Church, Pastor Donald Harris officiated. Interment was in Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville.
