Obituary: Ruben J. Meyer, 66, of Deshler died Tuesday evening at Wood County Hospital. Born in Deshler on July 18, 1923, he was the son of John C. and Emma (Meyer) Meyer. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of the Deshler American Legion Post 315 and lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler. he retired as a United Telephone Co. lineman in 1981. Surviving are his brother, Harold of Deshler and a sister, Marie Harper of Rogersville, MO. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Rudolph. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in St. John Lutheran Church of Deshler, Rev. Roger Marlow officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
