Walter M. Lutz, 82, of Deshler, died Saturday, Sept. 16 in Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.
He was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Weskan, Kan., to William H. and Mary (Satterfield) Lutz. He married Helen Rayle on Dec. 21, 1946, and she survives in Deshler.
Mr. Lutz was employed by the Village of Deshler as a lineman for the electric and water department. He operated the electricity generating plant for the village until it was shut down. He retired in 1975. He formerly worked at the Deshler Western Auto Store.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the North African Campaign during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of Deshler United Methodist Church and its pastor parish committee. He was a member of C. J. Wagner Post 287 American Legion, Leipsic, and a volunteer for FISH.
Also surviving are his daughter, Elaine Hurst, of New Boston; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott; brothers, John, Charles, and Harry, and sister, Alice Booker.
Funeral services were held Sept. 19 in the Dubbs-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, with the Rev. Susan Babb officiating. Burial was In Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler.
