Comment: World War II Veteran. Recalled for serve with the U. S. Naval Reserves. He was killed, along with 25 other Navy personnel (including ten Navy nurses en route to take care of Korean casualties), when the Navy C-54 transport aircraft that carried them as passengers crashed into the Pacific Ocean and exploded. The aircraft had just departed Kwajalein Atoll and crashed two miles offshore at 7:08 a.m. The bodies of only four of the 26 fatalities were recovered.
