Martha D. Gobrogge, 79, of Hamler died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 11 at the Defiance Hospital. Born near Hamler Aug. 15, 1911, she was the daughter of Heinrich and Marta (Kestner) Benien. On August 31, 1930, she married Martin Gobrogge, and he preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1977. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Hamler, and its Women of the Church group. Surviving are three daughters, Mildred Bostelman of Route 4, Defiance, Janette Jackson of Deshler and Margaret Philpot of Paulding; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were infant twin daughters; a son, Richard in 1954; a sister, Helen Norden; and a brother, Carol Benien. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, in St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Hamler, Rev. Ronald J. Claussen officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery.
