[Excerpt] Two members of the Ottawa City Fire Department lost their lives while working at a fire. The victims being John Krieger aged 35 and Joseph Hermiller aged 24. While throwing water on the burning building, in some manner two high tension feed wires belonging to the local electric light plant, were broken and the ends fell among the firefighters in front of the burning building, throwing them in all directions. Krieger was killed instantly and Hermiller was rendered unconscious when the wires struck them.
