Fred H. Honemann Sr., 85, of Hamler, died early Friday morning in his home. Mr. Honemann was born Oct. 9, 1905 in Bartlow Township, Henry County to Fred H. and Anna (Haske) Honemann. He married Hilda Mohring on Aug. 27, 1932, and she died in 1987. Mr. Honemann had been the owner and operator of the Honemann Garage Chrysler dealership in Hamler since 1932. He also served as a school bus driver for Hamler schools 12 years. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, where he had served as a church trustee for six years, treasurer for nine years, and served three terms as the president of the church's mens club. He also had been a member of the church choir 26 years. Mr. Honemann served as a member of Hamler Village Council for 18 years. He had been a member of the Hamler Volunteer Fire Department for 38 years and served as its chief for 28 years. He was a past member of the Henry County Heart Association and had served as Marion Township Heart Fund Chairman. He was a member of the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association, the National Automobile Dealers Association, the Maumee Valley Sportsmen's Club, the Chrysler Corporation Advertising Council, the Chrysler Corporation Service Guild. He also was the longest active Marathon petroleum products dealer in the country, representing that company since 1932. He is survived by a son, Fred F. Jr. of Hamler. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Albert, George and Rudolph, and a sister, Emma. Visitation was held at the Snyder-Bloor Funeral home, Deshler. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Peace Lutheran Church Deshler, with the Rev. Paul Lehenbauer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
