Elmer E. Haas, 86, of 11141 Round Head Rd., Custar, died at Rapids Nursing Home, Grand Rapids. He was born April 11, 1894 in Custar to Louis A. H. and Sarah J. (Ballmer) Haas. He married Ethel A. Shuman on June 30, 1919 and she died April 16, 1969, Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Haggerty of Toledo; three sons, J. Harold of Deshler; Bernard J. of Fremont; and Robert H. of Toledo; three sisters, Mrs Laura Dyke of Weston, Alta of Custar, and Mrs. Ola Shock of Toledo; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Haas was a retired farmer. He was a 65-year member of IOOF Lodge No. 755 and Oriana Rebekah Lodge No. 774, both of Tontogany. He was also a member of Enterprise Grange No. 472 of Grand Rapids, The Presbyterian Church of Milton Center and the Wood County Protective Association. He was a past president of the Milton Township School Board. Funeral services were at Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, the Rev. Alex K. Davison officiated. Burial was in Milton Township Cemetery.
