Homer Alfred House of Dayton, formerly of Deshler, born Sept. 17, 1917, died Aug. 16, was buried in Woodlawn cemetery at Deshler following graveside rites at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 19.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. the same day at the Swart Funeral Home, in West Carrollton, with the Rev. J. Leslie Kunze of the Memorial Methodist Church officiating.
The Rev. Cole of the Deshler Methodist Church conducted the brief service at Woodlawn cemetery, with the Dubbs Funeral Home assisting in the local arrangements.
Mr. House was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Winfield Scott and Mrs. Gail (Jaqua) House. On June 24, 1944, he was united in marriage with Miss Gwendolyn Gene Baxter of Lima. Mrs. House and four children, Sheila Rae, Scott Richard, Elaine Renee, and Lois Carol, survive. His step-mother, Mrs. Gale Weaver of Deshler also survives.
Mr. House was the grandson of the late Homer L. House, who for many years was president of the Deshler Corn City State Bank, of which his father, W. S. House was vice-president for a number of years.
He was a graduate of Deshler High School and later spent a year as a trainee at Hibbard, Spenser, Bartlett, wholesale hardware dealers in Chicago, and another year as one of their salesmen. He left to enter the army and was stationed at Camp Blanding in Florida for a period during World War II.
Mr. House worked for the government for approximately 17 years as a Supply Commodity Management Specialist, first at the Rossford Ordinance Depot, and when that depot was closed, he was transferred to Dayton to the Gentile Air Force Depot, which later became the Defense Electronics Supply Center, where he held the same position as at Rossford, for the last six years.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 598, in Kettering and of the Memorial Methodist Church in West Carrolton.
