Hertha (Hattie) Cody, 84 of Malinta died Nov. 22 at Henry County Hospital following a brief illness. Born Oct. 31, 1907, in Hamler, she was the daughter of Gust and Emma (Eickhoff) Hoops. On June 19, 1932, she married Richard Cody, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1984. A retired homemaker, she was formerly a service station attendant for Cody's Service Station in Malinta. Her memberships include the Trinity Lutheran Church in Malinta and the Lutheran Women of the Church. She was a charter member of the Wide-A-Wake Club in Hamler. She is survived by her two sons, William of Malinta and Robert of Cincinnati; a daughter, Mitzi Swett of Dowingtown, Pa.; two sisters, Amelia Dachenhaus of Hamler and Lulu Hissong of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Hoops; and two sisters, Montana Cuff and Marion Kussow. Services were held Nov. 23 at the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon. Rev. David Coffin of Trinity Lutheran Church officiated. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon.
