D.A. 'Lon' Holder, 73, rural McClure, died Tuesday morning at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. He was mayor of Deshler from 1945-53.
He was born March 6, 1901, in Deshler to Frank and Wahstella (Schroyer) Holder. He married Catherine Stewart Nov. 1, 1919 and she survives.
Also surviving are a son Daniel, Huntsville; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Setzer, Bluffton; Mrs. John (Margaret) Norden, Deshler; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Holder was a retired stationary engineer at Centrex Corp., Findlay. He also ran a chicken hatchery for many years in Deshler. He was Henry County Central Committeman for the Republican party for a number of years and belonged to Masonic Lodge, Deshler, and St. Paul's Methodist Church.
Services were Thursday at 2 p.m. at Dubbs-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, the Rev. Delmar Young officiating. Burial was in Deshler Woodlawn Cemetery.
