John E. Hill, 83, S. Park St., Deshler, died last Wednesday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, of a chronic lung disease and pneumonia. A retired employe of the B&O Railroad, he had been seriously ill 11 days.
He was born Aug. 11, 1890, in Deshler, to John and Lucinda (Staggerwalt) Hill. He married Maude Rickerd on Dec. 11, 1911, and she died July 7, 1966.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lois Baker, Findlay; Mrs. Art (Bernice) Kinder, Deshler; Mrs. Glenn (Helena) Radabaugh, Ottawa; Mrs. Sam (Mary) Markwood, Perrysburg; Mrs. Owen (Evelyn) Tumbill, Grover Hill; three sons, John R. and Norman W., both of Deshler; and Clarence E., Lima; 31 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hill was a lifelong resident of Deshler.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Dubbs-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, the Rev. Delmar Young officiating. Burial was in Deshler Woodlawn Cemetery.
