The many friends of Mrs. Florence Young of Deshler were greatly saddened Tuesday evening to hear of her death in Woman's and Children's Hospital in Toledo.
Mrs. Young had been in poor health for many years and recently her condition had gradually been becoming more serious, until an operation was deemed advisable. Although she was in a weakened condition, it was hoped that this operation would prove an aid toward restoring her health. On Tuesday, April 22, she was operated on in the Woman's and Children's Hospital, and although critically ill from the start her condition improved for a few days. Death came at 8:15 o'clock on Tuesday evening, April 29, from complications following the operation.
Florence House, daughter of Homer I. and Carrie C. House, was born July 12, 1893, in Deshler, in which place she has resided during her entire lifetime. She attended school in this place and on December 16, 1913, was united in marriage to Benjamin H. Young, also of this place. To this union, three children were born, Helen Maurine dying in infancy, and Rachel and Jane surviving.
Mrs. Young, having lived in Deshler so long, has made many, many dear friends who will greatly miss her. She was always active in church work, belonging to the Methodist Church. Until just several weeks ago she regularly taught a Sunday School class, and also had charge of programs for the Sunday School. Mrs. Young was always a willing worker, whether the job was a difficult or an easy one.
Being in such poor health, she was unable to accomplish much that she longed to do, and underwent the operation in hope of becoming well and strong again.
Those who mourn her departure are her husband, Ben H. Young, two daughters, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. House of Deshler, five sisters, Mrs. Ray Shank of Columbus, Mrs. Ward of Forrest, Mrs. T. B. King, Mrs. Fred Gribbell, and Mrs. Chas. Boyer, all of Deshler and one brother, W. S. House of Deshler, and a host of other relatives.
The funeral will be conducted Friday afternoon, May 2, at 2 o'clock P.M. at the M. E. Church, interment in Deshler Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Baltzell will officiate.
