A funeral Mass for Agnes J. Gerschutz, 84, of Hamler, was said Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Hamler with the Rev. Herman Scherger officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bavaria. McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, was in charge of arrangements. A scripture service was held there on Tuesday. Mrs. Gerschutz died Feb. 7 at Hometown Nursing Home in Ottawa. She was born July 26, 1902 in Holgate to Frank and Marguerite (Royal) Okuley. She married Edward J. Collins on June 24, 1924, and he died April 6, 1931. She then married Vincent Gerschutz on June 28, 1939, and he died Oct. 29, 1985. Surviving are a son, Dale of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Janice Collins-Kleman of Fort Jennings and Mrs. Patrick (Juanita) Collins-Arend of Archbold; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Okuley or Rawson and Lester Okuley of Holgate; and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Leis and Eleanor Okuley, both of Miller City. Mrs. Gerschutz was a school teacher in the Henry County area. She was a graduate of Defiance College.
