Justin J. 'Bob' Gribbell, 91, of Deshler, died Wednesday evening, June 20, 2007 in Oak Grove Healthcare Center, in Deshler.
He was bom April 15, 1916, in Deshler to Fred and Edna May (House) Gribbell.
On Dec. 1, 1940, he married Ruth L. Hanna in the Deshler United Methodist Church and she survives.
Mr. Gribbell was a 1934 graduate of Deshler High School and a 1939 graduate of the Ohio State University with a law degree. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 3rd Signal Radio Maintenance Team.
He was the second generation of Gribbell & Gribbell Attorneys at Law of Deshler from 1939-1983. He also operated Gribbell Real Estate and Gribbell Insurance Agency. He served as Deshler Village Solicitor and on the Corn City State Bank Board of Directors, Deshler.
Mr. Gribbell was a member of Deshler United Methodist Church where he was on the Board of Trustees, a lay leader, and a Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of Deshler American Legion Post #316; Deshler Lions Club; Deshler Chamber of Commerce; Deshler Camera Club; Deshler Builders Group; Deshler Doctorsβ Committee; Deshler Boy Scout Troop Committee; the Ohio Bar Association; the Henry County Bar Association, and Gideons International.
He enjoyed sailing, gardening, carpentry and cooking. Justin was known for telling jokes and walking for exercise, even after he was using a walker. He enjoyed spending time on the water; whether at the family cottage in Michigan or at their winter home in North Port, Florida.
He is also survived by his daughters, Karen (John) Sunderman, of Deshler; Nancy Gribbell, of Dublin, CA; son, Gary (Christina), of Bessemer, AL; sister, Rose Crosby, of Leipsic; 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Keith and a brother, Marsden.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Rodenberger Funeral Home, in Deshler, with Pastbr Mary Bushong officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Deshler where graveside military honors were accorded by Deshler American Legion Post #316.
The family suggests donations to Deshler United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donorβs choice.
