Obituary: LEONE FREDERICK Leone R. L. Frederick, 79, of Napoleon, died Monday, Dec. 9, at Holgate Quality Care. Born in Rantoul, Ill., on March 3, 1912, she was the daughter of Leo and Hilda (Gustafson) Cruey. In 1928, she married Richard Engel, who died in 1946. She married Howard McGaffey in 1961, and he preceded her in death in 1977. In 1983, she married Cleveland Frederick. A retired homemaker, she was a member of Emanuel's United Church of Christ in New Bavaria and was a former member of O.E.S.. Rebekah Lodge and Pythian Sisters. Surviving are her sons, Byron Engel, of Holgate; Kendol Engel, of Ithaca. Ill., Roger Engel, of Montpelier, and Larry Engel, of Defiance; daughter, Betty Leaders, of Kissimmee, Fla.; brother, Burnell Cruey, of Holgate; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death was a brother, George Cruey. Services were held Dec. 12 in the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Rev. Francis Turpin of Emanuel's United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon. Memorials may be made to the church.
