Waldo (Pete) Drewes, 57, of Route#1, Malinta, was found dead in the barn of his farm house. A lifelong area resident, he was born in Monroe Township on March 15, 1924, the son of Fred Drewes and Henrietta Badenhop. He was married to Dorothy Gerken on April 9, 1949 and they lived their entire married life in Monroe. Drewes farmed and worked as a security guard for Campbell Soup Company for 21 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hamler, where he had served as financial secretary and trustee of the church. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Warren L. McIntyre Post #262 of the American Legion in Hamler and the VFW in Napoleon. Surviving are his wife, two sons, John and James; one daughter at home; his mother, Mrs. Henrietta Drewes, a patient at Northcrest Nursing Home; and four sisters, Mrs. Edmund (Nova) Huber, of Route 2 Deshler; Mrs. Don (Lila) Cordes of Morton, IL., Mrs. William (Mary) Delventhal of Napoleon and Mrs. Richard (Doris) Brubaker of Hamler. Funeral services were in Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hamler with the Rev. E. A. Laabs officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
