Irvin C. Kratzer, 85, of Route 7, Defiance, died, Feb. 21 at Defiance Hospital. He had been a resident of Leisure Oaks Nursing Home since May 1980. Kratzer was born Nov. 13, 1895 in Putnam County. Parents were Jacob and Louise (Gottmeier) Kratzer. he married Geneva Hashberger i 1919, and she preceded him in death in 1980. Survivors are two sons, Lowell of Route 7 Defiance and Howard of Deshler. A daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Coressel lives in Defiance. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Florence Ward, of Route 4, Leipsic. Four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. He retired from farming in 1972 from Marion Township in Henry County and moved to the Ayersville area. Kratzer was a member of the Ayersville United Methodist Church, the Hamler American Legion, the Henry County Farm Bureau, and served on the Henry County Fair Board. Services were Feb. 4 at the Ayersville United Methodist Church, Rev. Kenneth Wrightsel officiating.
