William H. Gerdeman, 74, of Napoleon, died Nov 19 in the Northcrest Nursing Home. Born in Bartlow Township on July 20, 1916, he was the son of Joseph and Lola Marie (Holmes) Gerdeman. On March 24, 1940, he married Mildred Van Horn, and she preceded him in death Nov. 19, 1985. A former lineman with the City of Napoleon, he retired in 1983. He attended Napoleon's Emanuel Lutheran church and was a member of the Napoleon American Legion Post #300, AMVETS Post #1313, VFW Post #8218 and Moose Lodge #788. Mr. Gerdeman was also a member of the Maumee Sportsman's Club, the Napoleon Athletic Boosters, and the Black Swamp Audubon Society. Surviving are his sons; William of Maggie Valley, NC, James of Pensacola, Fla., Dave of Davis, Calif., Danial of Bradenton, Fla., Thomas of Mesa, Ariz., Sgt. Ronald of Roverado, Italy and Joseph of Napoleon; daughters Barbara Steele and Judith Walters both of Napoleon; and Bonita Baden of Malinta; brother Robert of Hillsboro, NC; 24 grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were handled by Walker Mortuary of Napoleon.
