James Trutt and wife were killed at the railroad crossing just about a quarter of a mile south of Custar. Mr. Trutt was instantly killed and his wife lived about an hour after the accident occurred. They were taking flowers to the Custar cemetery when the flier caught them on the crossing. Mr. and Mrs. Trutt were among the early settlers of Jackson Twp. and was one of the township trustees at the time of his death.
