After a long and suffering siege with typhoid fever, Bruce Farquharson succumbed to the Mower's scythe at about 1 o'clock Wednesday morning. The fever left him Tuesday afternoon, but he was so prostrated that he never rallied.
Here is one of our sad cases, as this is certainly an aflicted family, there being three of his children down with the same disease, while the fourth is just in a fair way for recovery.
The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. W. Foltz. Further particulars next week.
Obituary, Deshler Flag, December 8, 1905:
The funeral of Bruce Farquharson, of whose death mention was made in these columns last week, was held at the U. B. church in this place last Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. W. Foltz, and the remains interred in Woodlawn cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends.
He was born near Deshler on March 24, 1874, and on November 15, 1896, was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Powers. To this union were born five children, all living.
The deceased was about thirty-one years of age, and leaves a wife and five children. We are pleased to state that the two children, who were quite ill with typhoid fever at the time of the death of their father, are recovering.
The grief-stricken family has the sympathy of the entire community.
