Gale L. Eickmeier, 46, of Malinta, died May 28 at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., after a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 30, 1940 in West Hope to Alvah and Arlene (Ward) Eickmeier, and his parents survive in McClure. He married Linda Furney on March 3, 1962 and she survives. Also surviving are a son, John of Liberty Center, a daughter, Jackie Eickmeier of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two brothers, Dale and Duane both of McClure; two sisters, Mrs. William (Charlene) Elliott of Cinnaminson, N.J.; and Mrs. Lee (Averell) Simmons of Syracuse, N.Y.; and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ola Ward of Napoleon. Rickmeier was a professional pilot. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Short Wing Fiber Association. He served on the board of directors for the Youth for Christ in the Defiance area. He was also a member of the West Hope Bible Church. A memorial service was held at the church with the Rev. William Wicks and Dan Williams officiating. Rodenberger Funeral Home, McClure, was in charge of arrangements.
