Obituary: Bessie M. Spahn, 87, of Eastland Acres in Deshler, died Oct. 7 at Oak Grove Quality Care Nursing Center. Mrs. Spahn was born Oct. 23, 1899 in Portage Township to Thomas and Rebecca (Dameron) Purtee. She married Edward "Matt" Spahn on July 12, 1922 and he died June 12, 1981. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Wright of Deshler; three sisters, Sue Carpenter of Toledo, Mrs. Harold (Sylvia) Chevalier of Oregon, and Lena Bevelhymer of fremont; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Oct. 10 at Dubbs-Rodenberger Funeral Home in Deshler with the Rev. Stephen Silvey officiating. Burial was in Pemberville Union Cemetery.
