Myrtle Dorothy Smith, 78, Deshler, died in Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born Jan. 21, 1903, in Bartlow Township, Wood County, to John and Sarah (Dunn) Freeman. She married Leonard Smith on March 18, 1936 and he died in 1979. Surviving are a son, John W. of North Baltimore; a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Barbara) Nicholson of Maumee; a sister, Mrs. Mary Leader of Deshler; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was employed as a secretary at the former Fassett Lumber Co., Findlay, until she retired in 1968. She was a member of the Hoytville United Methodist Church, the friendship class at the church, the United Methodist Women of Hoytville and Oakdale United Methodist Churches and the Wood County Republican national Committee. She also served as financial secretary and historian at the Hoytville church. Funeral services will be at the Hoytville church, the Rev. Everett Mills officiating. Burial will be in McComb Union Cemetery, McComb. Bloor Funeral Home, Deshler will make the arrangements.
