Anna Chloie Orthwein, 95, formerly of Hamler, died Oct. 17 in Oak Grove Quality Care Nursing Home, Deshler. She was born Oct. 13, 1896, in McClure to Edward and Leafy (Warner) Downard, She married William F. Orthwein on Dec. 22, 1915, and he died Feb. 19, 1991. Mrs. Orthwein was a homemaker. She was a member of the former Hamler United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Gertrude B. Tawny, of Cocoa, Fla., and Lucille I. Lowry, of Perrysburg, four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Verne, Charlie, Cecil and Herbert Downard, and sisters, Ethel Wright and Cora VanDoren. Funeral services were held on Oct. 20 in the Snyder-Bloor Funeral Home, Deshler. The Rev. Barry L. Weyant officiated. Burial was in Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler.
