Margaret I. Bowen, 84, of Deshler died early Thursday morning Sept. 20 at Overbrook Center in Middleport, Ohio. Born March 6, 1906, she was the daughter of Arthur and Lena (Feight) Pickens. She came to Deshler in 1964 from Toledo. On Dec. 24, 1935, she married Edward C. Bowen, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1968. A school teacher for many years, she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Deshler. A 1925 graduate of Leipsic High School, she then attended Bowling Green State Normal School for two years. For several years she taught at Double Brick School in Putnam County. In the 1940s, she was president of the Lincoln Street PTA in Toledo as well as a Girl Scout leader there. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Poulson of Hammond, Ind., a son, David Bowen of Syracuse, Ohio; a brother, Robert M. Pickens of Townsend, Ohio and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Snyder-Bloor Funeral Home, Deshler with Rev. Delmar Young and Marilyn Chivington officiating. Interment will be in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.
