Bessie L. Bockelman, 81, of Napoleon, died Aug. 6 in Henry County Hospital. She was born Dec. 7, 1905, in Pleasant Township to Michael and Nellie (Slentz) Lubenthal. She married Louis C. Bockelman and he survives. Also surviving are three sons, Rev. Paul Louis of Asheville, N.C., H. Lee of Palm Bay, Fla., and Larry D. of Boise, Idaho; one daughter, Shirley Dorner, of Toledo. 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Merle Lubenthal of Hamler and two sisters, Jenny Downing and Gertrude Peters both of Toledo. Mrs. Bockelman and her husband were custodians at the Tecumseh Woods Lutheran Church Camp in Tecumseh, Mich., from 1963-1972. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon. A memorial service was held Aug. 9 at Emanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman Ritterling officiating. Wesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
