W. Scott Boyer, 52, chairman of the board of directors of the Corn City State Bank, died Friday in Oak Grove Nursing Home, where he had been a patient two months.
He was a former member of both Deshler village council and the board of public affairs.
Mr. Boyer started at the bank as a teller in 1966, and was appointed cashier in 1968, president in 1975, and chairman of the board at the beginning of this year. Earlier he had been a telegrapher for 13 years for the B&O Railroad in Deshler.
An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Northwest Ohio chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association, a group of persons who own and fly small experimental airplanes. He also was a member of the chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Camera Club, American Legion, and Immaculate Conception Church, all in Deshler.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores; son, Scott C.; daughters, Mrs. Ann Mercer and Sue Boyer of Toledo; Mrs. Mary Jo Webb; and Cheryl, Nancy and Julie Boyer, Deshler; mother, Helen Boyer, Deshler; sister, Mrs. Virginia Egan and brother D. Thomas.
Services were Monday in the church. Dubbs-Rodenberger were in charge of the arrangements.
The family request that any tributes be in the form of contributions to the church of the American Cancer Society.
