James Boyer, an old and highly esteemed citizen of this vicinity, died last Saturday. He was held in the highest esteem by a large circle of personal friends, who extend their sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral was held in the Belmore Evangelical church, conducted by Revs. Brenneman and Stull, and the remains were interred in the Belmore cemetery. The following facts were furnished by a friend of the deceased:
James Boyer was born in Snyder county, Pa., Feb. 9, 1828; died Feb. 6, 1897. He was the son of Jacob and Annie (Hummel) Boyer. He was united in marriage Aug. 31, 1852, at New Berlin, Union county, Pa., to Rebecca Karr. This union was blessed with ten children, eight of whom are now living. He moved to Blanchard township, Hancock county, Ohio, in the year 1865. He moved to Van Buren township, Putnam county, in the year 1873, where he resided until his death. His wife died March 7, 1886. He was re-united in marriage Jan. 13, 1889, to Mary A. Wert. To them was born one child. He raised his family under religious influences. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, two sisters, nine children, thirty-seven grandchildren, and numerous friends.
