Moses Boyer, son of David and Agnes Boyer, was born October 28th, 1883, and died near Oakdale, March 7th, 1902, aged 18 years, 4 months and 9 days. Moses was a loving son and brother -- patient and cheerful in life, and in pain and suffering called upon the God of his parents for help, and I firmly believe that God heard and answered his feeble petition, from the loving smile which flitted over his face.
He was beloved by his associates and all who knew him; attended church and Sunday school at Oakdale, and the large and sympathetic crowd of his young associates who gathered at his home attested the esteem in which he ws held by them, and this tells us that when we are in the bloom of our youth we may be called away.
He leaves a father, mother, four brothers and three sisters (two sisters having preceded him to the better land). The deceased was a grandson of Aaron and Christina Butler, pioneers of the U. B. church here.
An article in the Deshler Flag on March 14, 1902, explains how he died: he worked in a sawmill and was attempting to put a belt on a pulley while the machinery was running. He was pulled into the pulley and lashed to it by the belt. He lived about two and a half hours after being pulled out, probably in great pain.
