Once more the silent messenger of death passes this way and takes from our midst one of our most loyal friends and one of our most highly respected citizens in the person of Abraham Frederick Buhler, eldest son of Samuel and Anna Buhler, natives of the Swiss Fatherland, who crossed over the turbulent River of Death Sept. 18, 1911, at the residence of his mother and brother, he having been a guest at the old homestead when the last summons came. He was born in Hancock county, near McComb, Dec. 13, 1867, having lived a life of 43 years, 9 months and 5 days. In the year 1891 he was joined in marriage to Miss Alzina Stahl and to them were born three children, of whom two survive, Samuel T. and Athalinda, 19 and 17 years of age, respectively. Mr. Buhler had been in ill health for several years past and has borne his afflictions very patiently all these years. He was a quiet, unassuming gentleman in all respects that we have ever known him, and none knew him but to be his friend. His genial, characteristical smile will not soon be forgotten and his friendly manner will be cherished to his memory by his multitude of friends while the fleeting train of years cycle away into the long, long ago. When casually meeting this friend it always seemed like having a nice genial, cheery ray of sunshine bursting in upon you from a clouded sky and made you feel the better for having been in his presence. His former fellow workmen in the employ of the Lytle Lumber Co. heartily endorse our words of commendation and gladly join us in our eulogistic manner in this article. And not only the fellow workmen, but the members of the company itself do not hesitate to speak words of praise for this departed friend, who was for a long time one of their faithful employees. We all shall cherish his virtues and keep his memory green as time and tide pass on. Rev. G. W. Foltz officiated in the funeral services and delivered a splendid well-chosen sermon for the occasion. Test, Ecclesiastes 8:8, 'And there is no discharge in that war.' Mortician, Ira Garner. Pall bearers, Lewis Davis, Reuben Dishong, E. T. Kline, C. F. Bergman, R. B. Flick and Charles Gorsuch. Funeral at Oakdale and interment made in the Silent City of the Dead, near McComb. The deceased leaves to mourn, a wife, a son and daughter, an aged mother and an only brother, three sisters and many other relatives, neighbors and friends.
