Glen Richard Stiles, 76, of Columbus, died April 5 at St. Anthony Medical Center of a heart attack. Glen was born Oct. 31, 1917 in Merlin, Canada to Harry and Vergie (Brown) Stiles. They later moved to Deshler, where Glen spent most of his life. He is survived by his wife, Katherine of Columbus, a daughter, Joyce Kirkham of West Valley, Utah; a stepdaughter, Mary Elliott of Whitehall; a son, Kenneth, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and sisters, Mrs. Vera Swithart and Mrs. Doris Payne, both of Deshler and Mrs. Ina Kennedy of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Nine grandchildren and 12 great-children, Host nieces and nephews also. He retired from Southerland and Page where he was a mechanical engineer and also from Ohio Highway Patrol Auxiliary of Columbus. He was a lifetime member of Whitehall Post 8794 V.F.W. He was also a member and past commander of Behley Post 430 American Legion, former honorary commander of 12 district American Legion, Past President of the Past Commander's club. He was also amember of The Moose Lodge #211; the Swiss Club, The McDowell and Marion Square Senior Citizens. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the European theater. Funeral services were held at Evans Funeral Home on April 10 in Columbus. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery followed. Memorial services were held on Tuesday evening by American Legion and V.F.W. Post at the funeral home.
