Vera Somers, 84, of 233 W. Lincoln St. in Findlay, died June 5 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born June 2, 1903 in Elk Rapids, Mich., to Henry and Anna Kathryn (Bosshard) Somers. Surviving are a half-sister, Mrs. Gladys Van Os of Saugatuck, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Noller of Sparta, Mich.; and a brother, Paul L. Somers of Melbourne, Fla. Somers was a lifelong teacher, having taught mathematics and social studies in Deshler for several years. She was a member of the Hancock County and National Retired Teachers Associations and the Deshler Research Club. She was a magna cum laude graduate of Bethany College, Bethany, W. Va., and received a master's degree from the University of Michigan. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of University Women. Somers was an active member of the First Christian Church. She was amember of the Sorosis Society and the Findlay Garden Club. A graveside funeral service was held June 6 at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. G. Russell Goldner officiating. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. June 14 at First Christian Church.
