Obituary: Mary Elizabeth Hardesty Stiles was born near McCartyville, Ohio, April 8, 1865, and spent her early life there. She was the third child of a family of five children, Julius, Dimet, Mary, Jesse and Linda. One brother and one sister having preceded her in death, Dimet and Linda. She was united in marriage to Philip Stiles, son of John and Sarah Stiles at Columbus Grove, Ohio, Oct. 3, 1886, and to this union seven children were born. Four daughters and three sons, Bessie, Vilda, Zona and Minnie; Harry, Roy, and Sherman. One daughter Bessie having preceded her in death and Philip Stiles, her husband, who passed away at Milan, Mich., June 7, 1923. The most of her life was spent near Deshler, Ohio and her thoughts were always with her home and family. Loved by all and after a well-spent life, she passed away on Aug. 15, 1935 at the home of her son at Deshler at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 7 days. Mother is gone but not forgotten.
