Last rites for Rufus D. Buchanan, 38, of McComb, who passed away at 10:20 p. m. Thursday in Findlay hospital were held Sunday at 3 p. m. from the Deshler Church of the Brethren. Rev. Glenn Fruth, pastor, officiated. Burial was in McComb cemetery.
Mr. Buchanan died from an acute gall bladder obsruction. He had been in the hospital one week and underwent surgery a week ago Wednesday.
The deceased was born August 24, 1909 near Deshler in Wood county, a son of R. W. C. and Ellen (Price) Buchanan. Surviving are his wife, the former Goldie Ann Griffith; two daughters, Patricia Ellen, 11, and Ruthann, 7; a son, Robert Allen, 4, all at home. Also, his mother, who resides at Hoytville, three brothers, George C., Deshler; Howard D., Arcadia; and R. W. C. Buchanan, Jr., Hoytville; three sisters, Mrs. Mable Anderson; and Mrs. Ruth Dennis, both of Hoytville; and Mrs. Wilda Regal, Deshler.
Mr. Buchanan was a stationary engineer at the Cooper Tire and Rubber Corporation. He had been employed there for the past one and one-half years, moving to McComb six months ago from Hoytville. He was a member of the Deshler Church of the Brethren and the youngest deacon. He was also a member of the Buchanan quartet, composed of four brothers, which is well known in this area.
