Aaron James Boyer, of 341 East Elm Street, dropped dead early Tuesday morning while performing his duties as baggagemaster at the Baltimore and Ohio station in Willard.
Mr. Boyer, who was 55, being born Feb. 12, 1880, south of Deshler, had not been in ill health, altho he had suffered heart attacks during the past few years.
He had just finished unloading baggage from a train and was talking to other workmen while resting when he dropped dead. A heart attack was blamed for his death.
Mr. Boyer had lived all his life in the Deshler community, making his home in Deshler in 1919 when he quit farming and took a position with the railroad here. Three years ago he was transferred to Willard but had kept his home here.
Surviving him are his wife, Cora; four sons, Cloyd of Montpelier; Carl, John and James of Deshler; three daughters, Mrs. Jennie Pacey, Mrs. Carey Miller and Dessie Boyer, all of Deshler; three brothers, Ben of Pennsylvania, Clyde of south of Deshler and Charles of Deshler; and four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Young, Mrs. Pearl Buchanan, Mrs. Hester Dishong, all living in or near Deshler, and Mrs. Essie DeAngelo or Toledo. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2 o'clock today (Thursday) at the Oakdale U. B. Church. Burial will be in McComb, in charge of Rader's Funeral Home.
Aaron James Boyer, son of David H. and Agnes Butler Boyer was born Feb. 12th, 1880 in Pleasant township, Hancock County, Ohio, near Oakdale U. B. Church, and departed this life, April 2nd, 1935, at Willard, Ohio, in the midst of his occupational activities. The deceased had attained the age of 55 years, 1 month and 20 days.
Mr. Boyer was baggage-master for the B&O Railroad Co., at Willard, Ohio, to which place he had been transferred from Deshler sometime ago. He had just finished his official duties, with a train, when the 'call' came. He fell in the midst of life's activities, and that, almost instantaneously.
He had been a faithful employe of the B&O Railroad Co. for many years.
He was united in marriage to Miss Cora E. Van Scoyoc, July 27th 190[smudged], and to them were born 3 daughters, and 6 sons, one Harry D. having died in infancy. The living are as follows: Jennie Pacey, Deshler, Ohio; Carrie Miller, Deshler, Ohio; Dessie Boyer, at home; Cloyd Boyer, Montpelier; Carl Boyer, at home; John Boyer, at home; James Boyer, at home; also 5 grand-children.
Besides his faithful companion and above named children and grand-children, the deceased leaves the following brothers and sisters: B. F. Boyer of Pennsylvania; Clyde Boyer of Deshler; Charles Boyer of Deshler; Hattie Young of Deshler; Pearl Buchanan of Hoytville; Hester Dishong of Deshler; Essie DeAngelo of Toledo.
Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the Oakdale U. B. Church in charge of Rev. Lutz and Rev. Bartlett. Burial was in McComb in charge of Rader's Funeral Home.
