Raymond C. Fruth, 73, of rural Holgate, died Feb. 11 in his home. Mr. Fruth was born in Holgate on Sept. 21, 1917 to Dan and Hattie (Austermiller) Fruth. On Oct. 21, 1944, he married Erva Jean Brink, who died on Oct. 12, 1968. Mr. Fruth formerly served as chairman to the Henry County Unit of the American Red Cross and was a member of the Holgate Board of Education, and a a board member of the Holgate Grain and Supply Association. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Holgate and the Napoleon Elks Lodge #929. Surviving are his sons, Mike of Defiance and Tom of Holgate; and sisters Velma Logan of Leipsic and Berneta Brubaker of Elida, Oh. Services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in St. John's Church of Christ, Holgate with the Rev. Howard Hershberger officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
