Elsie Catherine Arvine was born in Warren County, New Jersey, Feb. 22, 1842, and departed this life March 11th, 1919, aged 77 years and 19 days.
She was united in marriage to Edward D. Beam, July 3rd, 1858, to which union were born four sons and one daughter, one son and the daughter with the husband and father having preceded to the spirit world some years ago. The sons who survive are James A. Beam, of Cleveland, O.; John, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and George, of Bloomdale, O. April 7th, 1898, she was united in marriage to Isaac B. Vanscoyoc.
At an early age she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which she was a faithful member, until her removal to Deshler from Bloomdale, when her membership was transferred to the United Brethren Church at Oakdale, where she remained a consistent member until the time of her decease.
The deceased leaves to mourn their loss: the aged husband, three sons, 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; four step-sons; three step-daughters; and a long train of sorrowing neighbors and friends.
