Henry County Genealogical Society Newsletter

Volume 1, Number 1, October 1986

The first meeting of the Henry County Genealogical Society was held Monday, September 15,1986, at the Deshler Edwin Wood Memorial Library.

Our first organizational meeting was deemed a success, with more than 20 area men and women in attendance. Jana Broglin, the district representative from the Ohio Genealogical Society, was present to help with the organizational requirements, and answer any possible questions. Jana furnished several activity ideas and a list of available speakers, generating much interest for future programs.

Our first order of business was to elect temporary officers, to handle the meetings, until an election can be organized in Jan. 1987. Our new officers are as follows; Jane Shively – President; Mary Jo Cunningham – Secretary; Lucille Van Scoyoc -·Treasurer; Connie Petersen – as Newsletter Ed.

Charter memberships are available until Jan. 1987. Until that time, single or joint memberships (all of one household) will be sold. The membership will be good through December 31,1987, and include a newsletter. Checks can be sent to the Henry County Genealogical Society, 208 N. East Ave., Deshler, Ohio 43516.

Our organization is open to beginning as well as advanced researchers. Our future programs will be varied to assist everyone in the various stages of their research.

The newsletter will be glad to receive any information on Henry County events of the past. Items that generate much interest are births, deaths, marriages, wills, and articles from old newspapers, most anything that has added to the life and times of our ancestors. We also welcome any queries that you might have . All items or information may be sent to: Henry County Genealogical Society, 208 N. East Ave., Deshler, Ohio 43516.
