From The Deshler Flag, July 22 1943

Deshler lost a fine old lady, and a pioneer who saw the town to a busy village, when Mrs. Emma Drummond, 83, died Thursday last week…
She was born at Chamberlin Hill, Findlay, on November 12, 1859, as Emma Jean Matter. Her father was a tailor in that vicinity. She was married to Charles Wesley Drummond on August 16, 1874, in Napoleon, and they came to Deshler in 1884…. She loved to talk of the pioneering days when the early settlers hewed their homes out of the surrounding forests, and when a trip to town meant struggling through bottomless mud streets and roads….
She is survived by three grandchildren, Mrs. Esta Oberlitner, of San Diego, CA, Mrs. Cleon Berlin, of Harrison City, PA, and Harold Armstrong, of Cleveland and six great-grandchildren.

From The Deshler Flag, 29 Jan 1904

We see by the daily press reports that our friend Mr. George E. Fredericks, of Hamler, has been awarded a patent for a new horse cleaner.
