FIRST FAMILIES

If you are interested in applying for First Families of Henry County, contact Kathy Bishop at Information Request for more details. Be sure to check out the First Families link on our Web site as well.

SURNAMES

In our January-February issue each year we publish the surnames being researched by our members. We also publish the membership list from the previous year, assuming that not everyone will renew their membership by the time this issue goes to press. For privacy reasons, we do not reproduce those lists on this Internet version of the newsletter. Thus, the January-February electronic edition of the newsletter is always very small.

WE ARE PUBLISHING…

We will be publishing a new volume of ancestor charts. We would like to encourage everyone to send us their information, using a standard 5-generation chart. PLEASE TYPE OR WRITE IN INK. We have received several charts written in pencil, which will not copy well. If you have sent one of them, please re-submit your chart in ink. The deadline for submission is February 1.

HENRY COUNTY
1916 FARMERS’ DIRECTORY

ABBREVIATIONS — a, means acres; bds., boards; B. tel., Bell telephone; 4 ch., 4 children; H&L, house and lot; Flrk 10, Flatrock Township Road No. 10; O, owns; R1, Rural Route No.1; ret, retired; T, tenant; 4h, 4 horses; 2c, 2 cattle.

The abbreviations used for the Townships of Henry County are as follows:
Bartlow, Bar.; Damascus, Dms.; Flatrock, Flrk.; Freedom, Fre.; Harrison, Har.; Liberty, Lib.; Marion, Mar.; Monroe, Mon.; Napoleon, Nap.; Pleasant, Ple.; Richfield, Rhfd; Ridgeville, Rid; Washington, Wash.
Names in CAPITALS are those of Farm Journal subscribers-always the most intelligent and progressive people in any county. No Tumbledowns, for no farmer can keep on reading the F. J. and being a Tumbledown, too. Many have tried, but al1 have to quit one or the other. Note: this comment was left in for a laugh — all last names have been changed to all CAPITALS.
